Official Gallery Opening of The Drawing Board in Wrexham By The Mayor and Leader of The Council
The Drawing Board's Grand opening & launch of their City of Culture Awareness Project...
On Friday, 11th March at 11am, the Mayor and Leader of the Wrexham Council officially opened The Drawing Board art gallery, located on Lord Street and they wanted to meet some of the artists whose work was on display in the current exhibition.
With dignitaries, press and official hangers-on present, the gallery only had room for six of us artists to attend, so to make things fair, a draw of names out of a hat took place and I was very excited to be one of the lucky ones selected.
In addition to be the official opening of this independently ran not-for-profit gallery, it was also the launch of their City of Culture Awareness project, where the gallery were inviting people to come in and decorate their own football cards which will then be featured as part of the bunting in the Drawing Board's window display at their next exhibition beginning in May. All those attending the gallery opening, kicked things off on decorating the first of the bunting cards. The Mayor even got rocking on the drums in The Rockworks studio, located above the gallery.
A great morning had by all with The Mayor and Leader of the Council getting a chance to chat with local artists Lucy Price, Barbara Edwards, Julie Pomford, Aaron Kupier, Ian B Jones, Liz Carding and me, Neopog Art, as well as meeting the musicians upstairs.
And lets not forget, the gorgeous cakes from Emz Cakes The Creative Cafe and delicious coffee from Peter Humphreys at YaB.
